Environmental data shouldn't be so hard to find.

But it is. So we built something to fix that.

    The Problem

Before you buy a home, you check the roof. You check the foundation. You check the schools.

But what about the air? The water? Whether there's a Superfund site a mile away?

That information exists—scattered across dozens of federal databases, buried in EPA reports, hidden in FEMA archives. Finding it requires knowing exactly where to look, what to search for, and how to interpret what you find. Most people don't have hours to spend on government websites. They just want to know: Is this place safe?

    What Vrnl Does

We pull data from the EPA, FEMA, AirNow, NOAA, MSHA, and other federal sources. We organize it by location. We translate it into plain English.

Enter an address. Get a report. Understand what's around you.

    Why "Vrnl"?

The name comes from "vernal"—meaning "of spring"—and in reference to vernal pools.

Vernal pools are temporary wetlands that form each spring, often disappearing by summer. They may look like ordinary puddles, but they're actually critical indicators of ecosystem health. Species like spotted salamanders, wood frogs, and marbled salamanders depend entirely on these ephemeral habitats—if the pools disappear or become contaminated, so do they.

Just like vernal pools reveal the hidden health of an ecosystem, Vrnl reveals the environmental conditions around any address. What you can't see still matters—and now you can find it.

    Our Philosophy: Awareness, Not Alarm

We're not here to scare you. We're here to inform you.

Environmental risks exist everywhere—what matters is understanding them. A Superfund site 8 miles away is different from one 0.5 miles away. An old industrial facility that's been remediated is different from an active one with violations.

Our reports give you context, not just data. We help you understand what matters and what doesn't, so you can make informed decisions without unnecessary anxiety.
